Your Role

The Senior Network Engineer is primarily responsible for the global infrastructure up to OSI-Layer4. This contains monitoring, maintaining and expanding the existing connections. The network contains Cisco and Juniper devices.
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the full lifecycle from design to implementation to travelling to data centres and physically building/assembling the environment.

Your Profile

5+ years of network experience, CCNP level.
Preferred knowledge of routing/switching:

QoS experience.
VoIP experience.

Network design experience.
Happy to do hands-on work (configuration, racking and stacking).
Preferably with experience more varied than just working at Telecoms.
Excellent communicator, flexible, team player and passionate about their work.
Professional, eager and motivated attitude.
Eager to learn with a “gets things done” attitude.
Preferably already living in the Netherlands, but definitely within Europe.
University Degree or relevant IT qualifications.
Excellent English communication skills - both written and spoken.

Your Role

The Policy Development Office is responsible for supporting and driving the Policy Development Process which is a bottom-up, self-regulating system through which the Internet community can develop policies, Best Current Practices and guidelines.

The Policy Development Officer’s general duties include:

Policy Development Process Management:

Proposal tracking and policy document production (writing, editing, analysis, evaluation).
Developing impact reports for policies and proposals to identify possible implications and challenges these may bring after necessary research and analysis.
Liaising with members of the Internet community to identify the policy areas needing development.
Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing the implementations of policies.

Outreach and Reporting:

Attending and presenting at industry meetings.
Promoting the Policy Development Process internally and externally.
Monitoring Internet policy issues and industry happenings globally and reporting these internally and externally.

Your Profile

4 years experience in the IT industry or in a policy making/development environment.
Knowledge of Internet and networking technologies.
Relevant experience in a similar role in the IT industry
Ability to make appropriate and well-reasoned recommendations and decisions to support the business stakeholders.
Excellent presentation, strong communication (verbal and non-verbal) and conflict resolution skills.
Sensitivity to cultural differences and customs as well as political awareness and diplomacy.
Ability to work under pressure and to focus on multiple concurrent tasks.
Flexibility in working hours and travel.
Fluency in English communication - both written and spoken.
University degree (or equivalent) in Communications, International Business, Political Sciences, Telecommunications, Information Systems or a related field.

Join this innovation Dutch company who runs one of the largest websites in the Netherlands. This innovative, high-paced web 2.0 product company is located in the centre of Amsterdam and is a respected contender in their industry.

Your Role

Their platform is characterized by high-volume traffic and cutting-edge web 2.0 technology. More than 1500 Linux servers, located in 3 datacenters around Amsterdam, generate 4.5 billion page views per month.

The website runs on Gentoo Linux running Apache and MySQL. The main development languages are Python and PHP. Everything runs on 64-bit AMD or Intel platforms with 2-4 cores.

Your Profile

Minimum of a Bachelor degree in IT.
3+ years of professional experience in a Linux variant, preferably have your knowledge of several distributions.
Scripting and programming in BASH, PHP or Python is required.
You have experience with at least 3 of the following technologies or server software: squid, apache, MySQL, LVS, Nagios, memcached, jabber, puppet, cfengine, pound/lighty/nginx, gfs/clustering, trac, subversion, git & ganglia or mrtg.
Experience in building software and packages to generate a Linux distribution is a clear advantage.
Extensive experience with TCP/IP, routing, firewalling and any dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF or BGP.
Preferably you have ISP or large ICT experience as a Linux System Administrator or Programmer.
Excellent English, both written and spoken.
The Employer is willing to organize a Knowledge Migrant visa for exceptional people, however they would prefer to hire people who already live in Europe and are free to work in the Netherlands.
